Flu deaths continue to increase

This title of this article hit the nail on his head. It is about the increase of flu deaths in the UK (and scotland).
39 people in the UK have dead from the flu this winter. All but 3 of them from the H1N1 swine flu virus.
Numbers show that there is a significant increase in flu related deaths in the UK and Scotland. The UK-government has started a relaunch of the campaign to raise awareness on how to gaurd against the flu. The government makes a distinction between regular people and at-'risk groups'. These include pregnant women and people with chronic respiratory deseases or chronic heart, liver or kidney desease. So the government urges people from those at-risk groups to get vaccinated as soon as possible. The chief medical officer has asked the on the joint committee on vaccination and immunisation to assess the current vacinaction program, because he's not happy about the current numbers and increase of flu deaths.
This was an intresting article to read. 39 people died because of the flu. That seems like a whole lot to me. I don't know the facts and numbers about this in the Netherlands, but I çan't immagine them being this high. So it is kind of shocking to me that the government has so much trouble with this H1N1-virus. However, what I think is good is that some people in the government like the chief medical officer are asking questions about the current vaccination policies. They are not happy about these new numbers and want to improve their countries policies.
When we were in Ireland, we went to an hospital. There was a big billboard showing us we had to be careful, because a flu was about. So I think it was about the same flu you are talking about. 39 dead people because of this flu is a lot indeed! It’s always a scary thing if something you can’t see is able to grab you. Anyway I think if you have a good health and a good immune system, there’s nothing to worry about.
